Enjoy the Eastern Shore of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay in a relaxing and peaceful way. The Deal Island Bay Cottage on Maryland's Eastern Shore situated on a large lot, is a place where you can unwind from the daily stresses of the beltway life. Watch the sunrise every morning as you eat breakfast from the cozy dining room or the screened in porch, while a symphony of bird sounds provide the music and entertainment. During the day, bring a bay kayak and float out into beautiful Tangier Sound with your friends. Go crabbing in special spots known only to locals. (Instructions for 'chicken necking' are in the journal as well as the best spot to get huge crabs.) In the fall/winter use it as your base for Duck and water fowl hunting in the huge Deal Island Wildlife Management Area (WMA).

Walk or bike the island or explore the Wildlife Management Area nearby. At dusk, take a walk to the beach on the other side of the bridge which is only 1 block away and watch the sun set into the bay as if you were sitting in Key West, Florida, but without the crowds.

Boat ramp and marina nearby for docking your boat. Inquire for number.

Keep an eye out for the many bird species that the Deal Island Wildlife Management area is known for. Great Blue Herons, Canada Geese, unique ducks, gulls and more. "This region possesses an extensive variety of environments including barrier islands, coastal bays, tidal wetlands, cypress swamps, upland fields and primeval forests. More bird sightings have been recorded here than in any other region of the state." (Birding Weekend)

If you do feel like driving for other adventures, Ocean City Maryland, Chincoteague, Virginia, Assateague Island National Seashore are all about an hour away. Salisbury and Crisfield, MD less than half an hour. Catch the summer passenger ferry to historic and unique Smith Island from Crisfield.

The Pocomoke River State park at Shad's Landing has great kayak/canoe rentals where you can lazily paddle the serene river for its beauty or exploration! (or bring your own kayak)

We are happy to offer you a pet friendly cottage so you can enjoy your vacation with your entire family (pets included) for just one small fee that covers the entire stay. Our pet policy is listed below, please contact us if you have any questions:

1. If leaving pet unattended in the cottage, please open door to unfinished 3rd bedroom next to laundry room and leave the pet in these areas. If you do leave them in the main part of the house anyway, then shut all bedroom doors which are carpeted.
2. Pet owners must scoop yard and place pet residue in trash bag before departing cottage.
3. Please bring your pets' bedding, blankets, kennel and scooper. The bedding and blankets that are located in the cottage are for our guests use only.
4. Please immediately report any pet damages or problems.
5. Please be respectful of the property, we make an extended effort to offer pet a friendly cottage and we appreciate our guests who also make an extended effort to ensure the cottage is left undamaged by pets.
6. Guests will be charged for any damages or extra cleaning due to pet owner negligence.
